The client chose full height shutters for their bay window with a 76mm slat. The 76mm slat is seen as a more contemporary size slat but it works incredibly well here with the décor. By having a mid-rail, which mirrored the cross over on their sash windows, the customer was able to control privacy and light which was important as this house was on street. The ability to adjust your bottom louvers independently from the top section is one of they key advantages of shutters. We have installed numerous shutters like this for our Basingstoke clients.
For one of the children’s bedrooms the client selected our Victorian window shutters with integrated blackout blind. This shutter has a special frame with a side channel down which the blackout blind runs ensuring no light bleeds around the side. The blackout blinds are duette blinds, which have the advantage that they concertina to a very slim profile which means that during the day when the blind is in the up position it is totally hidden from view. Please note that this style of shutter needs a deeper frame so having a deeper window recess is of an advantage.
Clients love having victorian window shutters in the bedroom as the ability to control privacy here is essential. Unlike curtains, which are either drawn or closed or roller blinds which are either up or down, shutter panels can be individually controlled. This means one can get dressed in the morning with lots of natural light but still have privacy. When you have luxury of a lie in just angle the bottom louvers for privacy and keep the top louvers in the open position to maximise light.
We also installed victorian window shutters in the family bathroom. Our shutters are 100% waterproof and are therefore ideal in shower rooms and bathrooms and if the young ones want to splash water all over the shutters this is not an issue. The shutters come with stainless steel hinges to reduce chances of rusting. Available in the most popular slat sizes and colours.
If you have a velux window and want to be able to control light levels, then a shutter is a good solution. As in this case where the light quite often would cause a reflection on the wall mounted TV. Here being able to angle the slat meant the room still benefitted from natural light but the TV could be shaded. An aluminium pole allowed the customer to angle the louvers on the shutters to their desired position.
