Have used The Great Shutter company twice. The first time was to install shutters at the back of my property and when it was time to do the front i did not consider going elsewhere. Their products are of excellent quality at very competitive prices. Communication from the company is excellent, Helen, Charlotte and Katie are so nice to talk to. Dealing with The Great Shutter Company has been really easy from start to finish.
From the initial consultation the communication was easy , especially after we had decided to change the design after the first consultation, everything was changed to our satisfaction before any ordering was done.
There was roughly a Three month wait as the shutters were coming from China, but this is not the Companies fault and we were in no hurry.
We were kept up to date once they knew they would be arriving into the UK.
A mutual date was then set for fitting.
On the arranged date the fitters arrived and it was amazing just how quick everything went together, and just one minor adjustment needed, which they resolved easily, all fitted in a morning.
We had gone for split level shutters in the bay window, so we can either open the top or the bottom blinds independently of each other, so we can still open our top or bottom windows.
They can also be fully opened so your windows are visible, which makes it easier for cleaning the windows on the inside.
The back window design were for just straight down opening the full length in the middle like cupboard doors, making it easy again to reach to open or clean the window.
Most of the rubbish was taken back with the fitters, with just a small amount for us to discard.
What was a dim bay window and rear window with vertical blinds, it is now bright and light with the white shutters, plus the privacy aspect is a great improvement to our property.
The communication carried on after having them fitted with a courtesy call around a month later to check everything was to our satisfaction.
We really wouldn’t have any hesitation in recommending The Great Shutter Company to anyone thinking of making a change.

They were easy to speak to over the phone and arrange the initial appointment. Measuring up and quoting was simple, included some really helpful advice to help us decide what we wanted. We purchased shutters with electronic black out blinds for a numbers of windows at our home. The shutters fit perfectly to our windows and are exactly as we hoped for. The installation was very efficient, with all rubbish taken away at the end of the day. Really high quality feeling and we had a great experience with the salesman Mike who was really helpful when he came to measure up and quote us. Then again with Jordan when he fit them for us. There was a really long wait and the delivery date was delayed by a couple of weeks but it seems everyone I knew ordering shutters had a long wait! Even still they were apologetic and helpful with tracking my order when it was late so I didn’t downgrade the stars.

We recently had plantation shutters fitted in our lounge and I must say the finish is far beyond our expectations. From the time we made contact with The Great Shutter Company right through to the
installation we found them extremely helpful and informative. On the initial measuring visit they were first class and the samples that were shown to us allowed us to see the quality of the product we would receive. It was explained that a wait of sixteen weeks may be needed for the shutters to arrive, but in the end they came in twelve weeks. My experience of The Great Shutter Co., from start to finish, has been excellent. All staff members have been extremely helpful and professional throughout. The installation team have done a fantastic job and gave an overview of how best to care for my new shutters. I had a minor problem with one of the magnets on one of the shutters post installation that the team were incredibly quick to come and rectify. Upstairs and downstairs shutters fitted at the front of the house, they were a fantastic company to deal with from start to finish, everything went very smoothly and apart from a slight delay due unfortunately to a combination of brexit and covid (which obviously was completely out of their control ) we are extremely pleased with the results. The whole process was well managed from initial design visit to the final fit , this is a great example of how this work should be done! It’s really nice to work with a company who do exactly what they say they will do when they say they will do it and at the agreed price. I have absolutely no qualms about recommending them and have already done so to my friends, thanks for a great job well done.

The Great Shutter Co., from start to finish, has been excellent. Getting an appointment was easy, with clear explanations of the different types of shutters and bringing samples to our home. The Great Shutter Co. quickly measured our windows for a custom fit.

Once the shutters were ready, the fitters came at a convenient time. The gentlemen were very polite and respectful, leaving no mess and took the time to show me their work and how to use the shutters correctly.

The final product looks fantastic and has surpassed our expectations in terms of quality and finish. I would highly recommend The Great Shutter Co. to anyone else.

Unlike many others we take production measurements during your home design consultation. No salespeople – just good, honest, advice.

We bring the showroom to you

Our consultants will bring product samples as well as fabric samples so that you feel and see the quality of the awning cassette and fabric.

Made to Measure

Our awnings are manufactured to our exacting specifications.

Brackets

You may require specialist brackets if your property is only a single storey tall to spread the weight of the awning. Specialist brackets may also bee needed to account for guttering or down pipes. We will advise during the consultation.

Fitting

All our fitters are trained and employed by the company. We don’t use sub-contractors.

Pre-Quote

Our Process

First Contact

The office will arrange a date and time for your home consultation. We take a production measure during the consultation – so only one visit is needed.
The Quote

We will email a quote with each shutter itemised. We won’t sell to you in your home.
The Order

Let us know which shutters you would like to go ahead with and we will create an invoice. On receiving a 50% deposit we will place the shutters into production
The Fit

Once we have sight of the delivery we will book in our fully employed fitters (they may even have been the original consultant that visited) for your install.
Post Fit

You will receive a post fit call from the office just to ensure you were pleased with the process from start to finish.

Balcony Awning Portsmouth

Our client was based on the 3rd floor of this apartment building. We supplied a balcony awning with specialist brackets to the spread the weight of the awning. This was necessary as the wall would not have been structurally sound enough to support the weight of the awning.

Couple Awning Poole

Our client needed two large awnings for their new home. We liaised with the architect and builder and created a false front for the awnings so that when they retracted they fitted into a bespoke recess. This meant when the awnings were retracted they were not visible at all.

Awnings With Bespoke Brackets

Our client’s home had a single storey extension with a parapet wall. This meant there was not enough weight above the awning to support the standard awning fixings. By adding spreader plates we were able to spread the weight of the awning and ensure stability.

Motorised Awning Southampton

This simple, but elegant awning, helped keep the solar gain out of the lounge whilst also providing an area to sit under in both rain and sun. Our awnings can project up to 4m. Please note to project 4m the awning needs to be a minimum 4.5m wide.
